Description
This is to advise that on November 28, 2024, Melvin Lake Wind Inc. registered the Melvin Lake Wind Project, Halifax and Hants Counties for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.
The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to construct and operate an up to 23 turbine, up to 161 MW wind energy project. The wind turbines will be up to 206 m tall to the tip of the blade and individually produce up to 7 MW. The Project is located in the Municipality of East Hants and Halifax Regional Municipality, near the community of Pockwock, NS. Melvin Lake Wind Inc. intends to begin construction in 2025 and the wind energy project is expected to be operational for up to 30 years commencing in 2028.
Minister's Decision
On or before January 27, 2025, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change will decide if the project can be granted conditional environmental assessment approval.
