Description
This is to advise that on January 21, 2015, Nova Construction Co. Ltd. registered the Brierly Brook Quarry for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.
The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to expand the operating quarry at Brierly Brook, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia. The quarry will occupy a maximum of 14 hectares (including the existing quarry) of land, with an expected project life of 20 years, and will support aggregate production to approximately 100,000 tonnes/year, for use primarily in local road and construction industry.
Minister's Decision
On March 12, 2015 the Minister of Environment released a decision (PDF:27k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act. The undertaking has been approved subject to a number of conditions (PDF:170k).
