Cooks Brook Sand and Gravel Pit Extension

Description

This is to advise that on November 8, 2012, Gallant Aggregates Limited registered for environmental assessment a proposed Sand and Gravel Pit Extension located in Cooks Brook, Halifax County, Nova Scotia, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to include the extraction of sand and gravel material from an extension to an existing permitted pit in Cooks Brook, Nova Scotia. The currently permitted pit is proposed to be extended in an easterly direction onto Gallant owned land to complete extraction and reclamation of the site. The project is scheduled to commence in April 2013.

Minister's Decision

On January 7, 2013 the Minister of Environment released a decisionPDF Download Link (PDF:28k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act.
