Description
This is to advise that on 18 February 2026, Eigg Mountain Wind Inc, a Renewable Energy Systems Canada (RES) company, registered the Eigg Mountain Wind Project for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.
The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to construct and operate a 22 turbine, 154 MW wind project. The wind turbines will be 199.5 m tall to the tip of the blade and individually have a nameplate capacity of 7.0 MW. The Project is situated on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people in Antigonish County. The project will also include a transmission line, electrical collector lines and substation, access roads, and temporary laydown areas. The proponent intends to begin construction of the Project in late 2026 and it is expected to be operational for up to 35 years commencing in 2028.
Minister's Decision
On or before 9 April 2026, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change will decide if the project can be granted conditional environmental assessment approval.
