Description
This is to advise that on November 9, 2011 Alva Construction Limited registered a Northumberland Rock Quarry Extension Project for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.
The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to extend the existing approved Northumberland Rock Quarry site to allow for continued aggregate production for local construction needs. Proposed quarry activities (i.e. production levels, blasting and truck traffic) will be consistent with current quarry operations.
Project Update
The Minister has authorized an extension for the commencement of work effective January 9, 2014, and expiring January 9, 2016. The Proponent must, on or before January 9, 2016, commence work on the Undertaking unless granted a written extension by the Minister.
Ministers Decision
On January 9, 2012 the Minister of Environment released a decision (PDF:28k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act. The undertaking has been approved subject to a number of conditions (PDF:32k).
