Peppered Moon Nature Reserve

Peppered Moon Nature Reserve Peppered Moon Nature Reserve is located adjacent to Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct, on the large coastal headland between Port Joli and Port Mouton in Queens County. It borders a section of St. Catherines River Road but does not include coastal frontage.

The undisturbed, humid, coastal forest consists mostly of poorly drained black spruce, balsam fir and red maple. This provides habitat for several species of uncommon lichens, including peppered moon lichen.

This site was acquired by the Nova Scotia Nature Trust, placed under a conservation easement, and transferred to the Province for protection in 2015.
