Drilling For Mineral Exploration Notification

Who Needs This Notification / Registration?
A mineral exploration licence holder who plans to begin a drilling program in Nova Scotia for mineral exploration must notify the province. The applicant must provide the Registrar, Mineral and Petroleum Titles, N.S. Department of Natural Resources, with a tabulation of drillhole data, including grid references, azimuths, dip, total depths, dates of start-up and completion of drilling.

Also, the drillhole location must be provided as it may be cross-referenced to a claim or licenced boundaries.

Drilling Notifications are completed through the mineral rights online registry system (NovaROC). Please visit: novaroc.novascotia.ca.
Waiting Period:

Licence holders must file a drilling notification no later than 7 days before beginning drilling.

Expiry & Renewal:
This notification is valid until the completion date provided in the notification. It is not renewable.

  1. Mineral Exploration: Licence, N.S. Department of Natural Resources;

  2. All work conducted persuant to this Notification must be done in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Environment Act, and all other pertinent legislation.
