| Who Needs This Licence? | ||
| Any person in Nova Scotia who wants to participate in the
N.S. Motor Vehicle Inspection Program requires a Tester Licence. Note: This licence is only issued to employees of a licensed Motor Vehicle Inspection Station. Licence holders must have certification in one of the following trades to conduct inspections on passenger or light commercial vehicles: 1) Automotive Service Technician; or 2) Service Station Mechanic. |

Initial contact should be made with staff in either of the two above offices, in writing or in person or by phone. Along with the application, you must submit the proper Certificate
of Qualification, from the Department of Education, for the classes
of vehicles to be tested. |

| 10 business days Provided that all the items that must accompany the application have been received (Please allow several extra days for mail delivery.) |

| Expiry & Renewal: | ||
| This licence is valid until December 31 of the calendar year in which it is issued. It is renewable; the Department will send out a renewal notice before it expires. | ||

| A holder of a Heavy Commercial Tester Licence requires
one of the following Trade
Apprenticeship Certificates of Qualification in the automotive repair
trade (mechanical) through the N.S. Department of Education:
1) Motor Vehicle Repair: Truck Transport; 2) Motor Vehicle Repair: Bus and Transport. |
