Registry of Motor Vehicles - Driver's Licence Refund
Refunds on a driver's licence may be given:
- If the driver leaves the jurisdiction,
- If the driver is deceased, or
- If the driver voluntarily surrenders licence and the
Registrar is satisfied that the driver's licence has been
returned to the Registry for the reason of incapacity or inability.
The refund amount shall be based on the number of full unused
months remaining in the licence period, less an administration fee of $15.03 (includes $1.85 HST).
No refund will be made where the applicant is entitled to less
than $3.00.
The $11.90 fee for the production of the photo licence is
non-refundable.
Procedure For Refund:
A driver's licence (or proof that your licence was surrendered
to another jurisdiction) accompanied by a refund
application may be deposited at any of the Registry of Motor
Vehicle offices throughout the province of Nova Scotia
or mailed to:

Refund cheques are issued by the Department of Finance.
Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for processing and mailing.
