LABOUR FORCE SURVEY SEASONAL ADJUSTMENT REVISIONS 2021-2023

Statistics Canada has made their annual revisions to the past three years of Labour Force Survey results. These changes reflect a review of seasonal adjustment methods that accounted for extraordinary labour market shocks during the early part of the COVID-19 pandemic. This review concluded that in 2022 and 2023 labour markets returned to pre-pandemic seasonal patterns.   Population data are unrevised.

Nova Scotia's revised seasonally adjusted labour force survey results for December 2023:

  • Employment was 507,900 (revised down 700)
  • The unemployment rate was 5.9% (revised down from 6.0%)
