February 13, 2024UK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, OCTOBER 2023 TO DECEMBER 2023 
The UK Office for National Statistics reported today that the unemployment rate for the three-month period October to December 2023, declined to 3.8%. This was down from the 3.9% compared to the same period a year ago.
There were 1.320 million unemployed people in the UK, 13,000 less than from a year earlier. Employment in the UK was at 33.174 million, 107,000 more compared to a year earlier.
Note: From 13 February 2024, ONS will be reinstating reweighted Labour Force Survey (LFS) estimates. The new reweighted LFS estimates incorporate the latest estimates of the size and composition of the UK population, improving the representativeness of the LFS estimates - these will replace the experimental estimates that have been published since October 2023.
