Updated Contaminated Sites Environmental Quality Standards (October 2022):

All Notifications under the Contaminated Sites Regulations and any 30-Day Cleanups initiated after October 10, 2022 must follow the updated criteria.

Notifications made after Sept 30, 2021 which have not been closed prior to October 10, 2022, must use the updated version (October 2022) for closure.

Implementation of Amendments to the Contaminated Sites Protocols (September 2021):

Amendments have been made to the Notification of Contamination, Remediation Levels, and Confirmation of Remediation Protocols. These amendments will be effective on and after September 30, 2021. The updates to the Environmental Quality Standards (EQS) and Pathway Specific Standards (PSS) tables will take effect in the following manner:

• All Notifications under the Contaminated Sites Regulations made after September 30, 2021 or any 30-Day Cleanups initiated after September 30, 2021 must follow the amended criteria.
• Any Notifications under the Contaminated Sites Regulations filed with the Department prior to September 30, 2021 may choose to follow the amended criteria or continue to use previous criteria (archived, 2013) until September 30, 2023.
• Any 30-Day Cleanups initiated prior to September 30, 2021 may choose to follow the amended criteria or continue to use previous criteria for up to 90 days (December 30, 2021).
• Once file closure documentation is submitted, if more work is required, the applicable deadline dates for transition files outlined above (September 30, 2023 and December 30, 2021) still apply. If additional work is required beyond the deadline dates for transition files, the amended EQS and PSS criteria (2021) would now apply.
• If time extensions to close a file extend beyond the deadline dates outlined above, the amended EQS and PSS criteria (2021) would apply.
