Connect2 Program
Funding is available for active transportation projects that will improve connectivity within and between communities and have the potential to reduce emissions. Funding can be used for community planning, feasibility studies, learning by doing, public engagement sessions, program promotion and demonstration projects .
Funding for the 2022 to 2023 program year has closed.
Project Categories
Active Transportation Infrastructure and Design
Projects under this category may include:
- Temporary installation of bike lanes, public space and active transportation routes
- Bike grid infrastructure or design
- Engineering or feasibility studies
Connect2 will provide grants of up to 75% to a maximum of $100,000 per project in this category.
Shared Mobility & Bicycle Fleets
Projects under this category may include:
- Shared mobility services pilot projects
- Bicycle fleet pilot projects
Connect2 will provide grants of up to $75,000 per project in this category.
Capacity Building and Community Engagement
Projects under this category may include:
- Municipal staff training, capacity building, or networks
- Marketing and communications – social marketing
- Public engagement activities
Community Building and Engagement will provide grants of up to 75% to a maximum of $50,000 per project in this category.

- Registered non-profit society/cooperative in good standing
- Federally incorporated non-profit organization
- Nova Scotian Mi’kmaw Bands
- Municipalities
- Post Secondary Education Institutions
- Private Sector
