Electronic Death Registration (EDR): modernization

The Electronic Death Registration (EDR) system is streamlining the death registration process.

EDR is a web application used by funeral homes, medical certifiers, and healthcare staff to streamline the process of electronically registering deaths through online entry of both the death registration information as well as the medical certificate of death.

EDR can be accessed from any device including phones, tablets, and computers.

Timely death notification is needed by government agencies & programs to trigger and discontinue services to Nova Scotians. EDR allows government programs to access more timely, authoritative death information, thereby preventing overpayments, potential fraud, and enabling benefits to be issued quickly.
