UK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, MARCH TO MAY 2024

The UK Office for National Statistics reported today that the unemployment rate for the three-month period March to May 2024 was unchanged at 4.4%. This was up from 4.0% in the same period a year ago.

There were 1.528 million unemployed people in the UK, 133,000 more than from a year earlier. Employment in the UK was at 32.999 million, 312,000 less compared to a year earlier. UK labour force decreased by 179,000 over the past year to 34.527 million.
