The United States goods and services deficit narrowed by $8.5 billion to $70.4 billion. The goods deficit narrowed by $8.4 billion to $94.9 billion, and the services surplus widened by $130 million to $24.4 billion.



Total exports increased $5.3 billion to $271.8 billion. Goods exports increased $4.4 billion to $179.4 billion, and services exports increased $860 million to $92.3 billion.
Total imports decreased $3.2 billion to $342.2 billion. Goods imports decreased $3.9 billion to $274.3 billion, and services imports increased $729 million to $67.9 billion.
Year over year (August 2024 vs August 2023)
The US trade deficit widened by $10.8 billion. The goods deficit widened by $11.2 billion, and the services surplus widened by $379 million.
Total exports increased by $13.2 billion. Goods exports increased $6.9 billion, and services exports increased $6.3 billion.
Total imports increased $24.0 billion. Goods imports increased $18.1 billion, and services imports increased $6.0 billion.
