November 18, 2024EU AND EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, SEPTEMBER 2024 Month-over-month (September 2024 vs August 2024, seasonally adjusted)
In the 27 countries of the European Union, the balance of trade in goods surplus widened by €2.9 billion to €11.0 billion. Exports from the European Union were down 0.4% to €213.4 billion while imports declined by 1.9% to €202.4 billion.
In the 20 countries of the Euro Area, the balance of trade in goods surplus widened by €2.8 billion to €13.6 billion. Exports from the Euro Area grew by 0.4% to €237.6 billion while imports declined by 0.8% to €224.1 billion.
The European Union surplus in goods trade with the UK widened by €966.5 million to €14.8 billion, the export surplus in goods trade with the UK narrowed by €112.5 million to €27.9 billion, and the surplus in goods trade with the UK narrowed by €1.1 billion to €13.1 billion.
The European Union surplus in goods trade with Canada widened by €640.4 million to €2.0 billion, the export surplus in goods trade with Canada widened by €447.7 million to €4.1 billion, and the import surplus in goods trade with Canada narrowed by €192.7 billion to €2.1 billion.
The European Union surplus in goods trade with the US widened by €522.2 million to €18.2 billion, the export surplus in goods trade with the UK widened by €141.6 million to €45.7 billion, and the import surplus in goods trade with the UK narrowed by €380.6 million to €27.5 billion.
Likewise, for the subset of European Union countries that use the Euro, there was a goods trade surplus with the UK (widened to €12.0 billion), and with Canada (widened to €1.5 billion) and with the US (widened to €16.4 billion).
