JAPAN CURRENT ACCOUNT AND TRADE BALANCE, NOVEMBER 2024

Month-over-month (November 2024 vs October 2024)

The current account  surplus widened by ¥624.6 billion to ¥3,033,4 billion.                                                          

  • the goods trade deficit narrowed by ¥151.2 billion to ¥29.7 billion
  • the services trade deficit widened by ¥7.4 billion to ¥58.7 billion
  • the primary income surplus widened by ¥450.1 to ¥3,584.7 billion
  • the secondary income deficit narrowed by ¥30.7 billion to ¥463.0 billion

The goods deficit narrowed by ¥151.2 billion to ¥29.7 billion.

  • goods exports decreased ¥210.0 to ¥8,579.7 billion.
  • goods imports decreased ¥361.2 billion to ¥8,609.4 billion.

 

ANNUAL CURRENT ACCOUNT (2023 vs 2022)

In 2023, the current account surplus widened by ¥9.9 trillion to ¥20.6 trillion.

  • goods deficit narrowed by ¥9,114.6 billion to ¥6.6 trillion.
  • services deficit narrowed by ¥2,326.2 billion to ¥63.2 trillion.
  • primary income surplus widened by ¥95.2 billion to ¥34.6 trillion.
  • secondary income deficit widened by ¥1.6 trillion to ¥4.1 trillion.

 

ANNUAL TRADE BALANCE

 

Japan's goods exports increased ¥1.5 trillion to ¥100.3 trillion and goods imports decreased ¥7.6 trillion to ¥106.9 trillion. As a result the goods deficit declined ¥9.1 trillion to ¥6.6 trillion.

Japan's services deficit declined ¥2.3 trillion to ¥3.2 trillion.
