EU AND EURO AREA GDP, Q4 2024 (PRELIMINARY FLASH)

In Eurostat's preliminary flash GDP estimate for Q4 2024, seasonally adjusted annualized real GDP growth was +0.5% for the European Union (EU27), following a revised growth of +1.5% in Q3. For the Euro Area (EA20, a subset of the EU27 nations), seasonally adjusted annualized real GDP growth decreased to +0.1% after a +1.6% increase in the third quarter.

Among the Member States for which data are available, Portugal, Lithuania, and Spain reported the highest growth rates compared with the third quarter. Declines in GDP were reported in Ireland, Germany, and France.

The European Union economy was 1.1% larger compared to the fourth quarter of 2023. The Euro Area economy was 0.9% larger in Q4 2024 than in Q4 2023.
