JAPAN CURRENT ACCOUNT AND TRADE BALANCE, DECEMBER AND ANNUAL 2024

Month-over-month (December 2024 vs November 2024)

The current account  surplus narrowed by ¥301.8 billion to ¥2,731.6 billion.                                                          

• the goods deficit swung by ¥243.8 billion, rising to a surplus ¥214.1 billion
• the services trade deficit narrowed by ¥1.7 billion to ¥57.0 billion
• the primary income surplus narrowed by ¥628.3 to ¥2,956.4 billion
• the secondary income deficit narrowed by ¥81.2 billion to ¥381.8 billion

The goods balance changed from a deficit to a surplus of ¥214.1 billion.

• goods exports increased ¥546.2 to ¥9,125.9 billion.
• goods imports decreased ¥302.4 billion to ¥8,911.8 billion.

ANNUAL 

Annual (2024 vs 2023)

The current account  surplus widened by ¥6,668.9 billion to ¥29,261.5 billion.                                                          

• the goods trade deficit narrowed by ¥2,601.9 billion to ¥3,899.0 billion
• the services trade deficit narrowed by ¥299.6 billion to ¥2,616.2 billion
• the primary income surplus widened by ¥4,071.6 to ¥40,207.2 billion
• the secondary income deficit widened by ¥304.2 billion to ¥4,430.5 billion

 The goods trade deficit narrowed by ¥2,601.9 to ¥3,899.0 billion.

• goods exports increased ¥4,515.2 to ¥104,869.8 billion.
• goods imports increased ¥1,913.3 billion to ¥108,768.8 billion.
