April 03, 2025NOVA SCOTIA INTERNATIONAL GOODS EXPORTS, FEBRUARY 2025 Year-over-year (February 2025 vs February 2024, domestic exports on a customs-basis, unadjusted)
Nova Scotia international goods exports were $517.9 million in February 2025, an increase of 4.6% compared to February 2024. This was the highest level of February goods exports on record.

Canada's goods exports increased by 5.0% compared to February 2024. Out of 10 provinces, 6 reported a year-over-year decline. Prince Edward Island and Alberta reported the largest growth, while Newfoundland and Labrador reported the largest decline.

Year-to-date (January-February 2025 vs January-February 2024)
In the first two months of 2025 domestic exports grew 10.4% in Nova Scotia compared to the same period in 2024. Canada's exports increased 11.7% January-February 2025, with Prince Edward Island reporting the largest gain. New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador reported the only declines.

Among broad product categories, Nova Scotia's domestic exports grew the most for other transportation equipment, chemical/plastic/rubber products and electronics/electrical equipment. Shipments of metal, non-metallic mineral products, and metal ores/non-metallic minerals were down in January-February 2025 compared to January-February 2024.

The US is by far Nova Scotia's largest destination for international goods exports. In the first two months of 2025, Nova Scotia exports to the United States were up 12.2% over same period in 2024, rising to $799.7 million.
China is Nova Scotia's second largest export destination and exports declined 2.6% to $140.8 million in January-February 2025 when compared to January-February 2024.
Among the other significant export destinations, year-to-date exports were up sharply to Norway, Germany, and Algeria, with other notable increases to Turkey, France, Belgium, and Spain. The largest declines in year-to-date exports were to the Mexico and South Korea.



Nova Scotia's exports to the US accounted for 70.0% of exports in January-February 2025. Massachusetts alone had a similar export value to China in the first two months of 2025. Exports were up for nine of Nova Scotia's top ten US state destinations; exports were down to Texas. The largest dollar value increase was for Pennsylvania and New York.
