EU AND EURO AREA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, MARCH 2025

Eurostat has reported that the unemployment rate in the Euro Area was unchanged at 6.2% in March 2025. For the broader 27 countries of the entire European Union, the unemployment rate was unchanged at 5.8% in March 2025. 

The Euro Area youth unemployment rate edged down to 14.2% in March from the previous month's rate of 14.3%. In the European Union, the youth unemployment rate edged down to 14.5%. 

The unemployment rate for females in the Euro Area was stable compared to the previous month at 6.4% in March. The male unemployment rate edged up to 6.1% from 6.0% in February 2025. The European Union unemployment rate for females was stable at 6.0% in March 2025. The unemployment rate for males edged up to 5.7% in the European Union compared to 5.6% in the previous month.

Among EU member state economies, the March unemployment rates were highest in Spain, Finland, and Greece. The unemployment rate was lowest in Poland, Czechia, and Malta.
