UK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, JANUARY- MARCH 2025

The UK unemployment rate for the three-month period January to March 2025 was 4.5%, which was 0.1 percentage points higher from the preceding 3 month period (October-December 2024). From January to March 2024, the UK unemployment rate averaged 4.3%.  

There were 1.614 million unemployed people in the UK, 62,000 (+4.0%) more than the preceding 3 month period and 101,000 (+6.7%) more than at the same time a year ago. Employment in the UK was at 33.975 million, 112,000 (+0.3%) more than the preceding 3 month period and 640,000 (+1.9%) more compared to a year earlier. UK labour force increased by 174,000 (+0.5%) from the preceding 3 month period and by 740,000 (+2.1%) over the past year, rising to 35.589 million.
