CANADA'S BALANCE OF INTERNATIONAL PAYMENTS Q1 2025

Quarter-over-quarter (all countries, seasonally adjusted, Q1 2025 vs. Q4 2024)

Canada's current account receipts increased $12.6 billion to $338.2 billion while current account payments increased $11.2 billion to $340.3 billion. The resulting net current account deficit narrowed by $1.4 billion to $2.13 billion.

Goods exports were up $10.6 billion to $212.0 billion while goods imports were up $10.7 billion to $212.5 billion. As a result, the goods deficit balance widened to $470 million.

Services exports were down $162 million to $54.0 billion while services imports decreased $123 million to $55.9 billion. The services deficit widened by $39 million to $891 million.

Primary income receipts increased $1.5 billion to $66.4 billion while primary income payments increased $939 million to $67.0 billion. The primary income deficit narrowed $565 million to $543 million.

Secondary income receipts increased $675 million to $5.7 billion while secondary income payments decreased by $372 million to $6.0 billion. The resulting net secondary income deficit narrowed by $1.0 billion to $223 million.
