UK CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, MAY 2025

UK Consumer Price Index including owner-occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose 4.0% year-over-year in May 2025, down from 4.1% year-over-year in April 2025. The UK CPI index was up 3.4% year-over-year in May, down from 3.5% in April. The owner occupiers' housing costs component accounts for 17% of the CPIH. It is the main driver for differences between the CPIH and CPI inflation rates. The largest upward contributions were from food and non-alcoholic beverages, and furniture and household goods. These gains were partly offset by a notable downward contribution from transport, as well as housing and household services (including owner occupiers' housing costs) and communication.

Note: May CPI figures for Canada and Nova Scotia will be released on June 24, 2025.
