UK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, MARCH-MAY 2025

The UK unemployment rate for the three-month period March to May 2025 was 4.7%, which was 0.3 percentage points higher from the preceding 3 month period (December 2024-February 2025). From March to May 2024, the UK unemployment rate averaged 4.4%.  

There were 1.673 million unemployed people in the UK, 98,000 (+6.3%) more than the preceding 3 month period and 124,000 (+8.0%) more than at the same time a year ago. Employment in the UK was at 34.130 million, 134,000 (+0.4%) more than the preceding 3 month period and 754,000 (+2.3%) more compared to a year earlier. UK labour force increased by 233,000 (+0.7%) from the preceding 3 month period and by 878,000 (+2.5%) over the past year, rising to 35.803 million.
