NEW HOUSING PRICE INDEX, JUNE 2025

Monthly (June 2025 vs May 2025)

Nova Scotia new housing prices were unchanged from May to June 2025. Nationally the price of new houses declined 0.24%, with four provinces reporting declines. Alberta posted the largest decline and Prince Edward Island posted the largest gain, with three provinces reporting no change month-over-month.

Year-over-year (June 2025 vs June 2024) 

Nova Scotia’s new housing prices increased 4.8% from June 2024 to June 2025. Nationally, prices were down 1.0%.

New housing prices increased year-over-year in seven provinces, led by Nova Scotia. Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia reported declines, led by Ontario. 

Halifax new home prices increased 4.8% year-over-year in June 2025. Among Census Metropolitan Areas, new housing prices were down year-over-year in thirteen cities, with London and Toronto reporting the largest declines. Québec City and Halifax reported the largest year-over-year gains. Gatineau reported no change in new home prices year-over-year.

Year to date (January-June 2025 vs January-June 2024)

In the first six months of 2025, Nova Scotia's new housing price index was 4.4% higher compared to the same period in 2024, the largest increase among provinces. Nationally, new housing prices were down 0.4% year-to-date with gains in seven provinces. Year-to-date declines in new housing prices were lead by Ontario.

Halifax new housing prices were up 4.4% in January-June 2025 compared to January-June 2024. The fastest growth among CMAs was in Québec City and the fastest decline was in London.
