EU AND EURO AREA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, JULY 2025

Eurostat has reported that the unemployment rate in the Euro Area was 6.2% in July 2025, down from the revised June unemployment rate. For the broader 27 countries of the entire European Union, the unemployment rate was unchanged at 5.9% in July 2025, down from a revised in June unemployment rate. 

The Euro Area youth unemployment rate declined to 13.9% in July from the previous month's rate of 14.3%. In the European Union, the youth unemployment rate was 14.4% in July, down from 14.8% in June. 

The unemployment rate for females in the Euro Area was 6.4% in July, down from 6.5% the previous month. The male unemployment rate was 6.1%, down from 6.2% in June 2025. The European Union unemployment rate for females was 6.0% in July 2025, down from 6.1% the previous month. The unemployment rate for males was stable at 5.8% in the European Union compared June 2025.

Among EU member state economies, the July unemployment rates were highest in Spain, Finland and Sweden. The unemployment rate was lowest in Malta and Czechia.
