July 03, 2026EU AND EURO AREA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, MAY 2026 Note that from 1 January 2026, the Euro Area also includes Bulgaria.
The unemployment rate in the Euro Area was 6.2% in May 2026, unchanged from April's revised rate. For the broader 27 countries of the entire European Union, the unemployment rate was unchanged at 5.9% in May 2026.
Among EU member state economies, May unemployment rates were highest in Finland, Spain, and Sweden. The unemployment rate was lowest in Bulgaria and Czechia.
