March 04, 2026EU AND EURO AREA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, JANUARY 2026 Note that from 1 January 2026, the Euro Area also includes Bulgaria.

The unemployment rate in the Euro Area was 6.1% in January 2026, down from December unemployment rate of 6.2%. For the broader 27 countries of the entire European Union, the unemployment rate edged down to 5.8% in January 2026.
Among EU member state economies, January unemployment rates were highest in Finland, Spain, and Sweden. The unemployment rate was lowest in Bulgaria, Czechia, and Poland.
