EU AND EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, FEBRUARY 2026

Month-over-month (December 2025 vs November 2025, seasonally adjusted)

In the 27 countries of the European Union, the trade surplus in goods narrowed by €6.7 billion to €3.7 billion. Exports from the European Union were up 0.2% to €211.4 billion while imports were up by 3.6% to €207.7 billion.

From January 2026, Euro Area now consists of 21 countries after inclusion of Bulgaria. In the 21 countries of the Euro Area, the surplus in goods trade narrowed by €5.8 billion to €7.0 billion. Exports from the Euro Area were up 0.9% to €239.0 billion while imports were up by 3.5% to €232.0 billion.

European Union trade in goods with Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom

• The European Union's surplus in goods trade with Canada narrowed by €16.3 million to €1.7 billion.
• The European Union's surplus in goods trade with the US narrowed by €964.8 million to €10.5 billion. 
• The European Union surplus in goods trade with the UK narrowed by €1.0 billion to €15.8 billion. 

Euro Area Trade in goods with Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom

For the subset of European Union countries that use the Euro

• the Euro Area surplus in goods trade with Canada narrowed  by €110.4 million to €1.2 billion.
• the Euro Area surplus in goods trade with the US narrowed by €607.5 million to €9.4 billion. 
• the Euro Area surplus in goods trade with the UK narrowed by €991.8 milllion to €12.5 billion.
