TERANET-NATIONAL BANK HOUSE PRICE INDEX, MARCH 2026

Monthly (March vs February 2026, seasonally adjusted)

Halifax resale home prices, as measured by the Teranet-National Bank House Price Index (seasonally adjusted), fell 3.53% from February to March 2026, the fastest decline among 11 urban centers. 

The composite 11-city index of resale house prices dropped 1.01%, with declines in eight cities. Winnipeg reported the fastest growth.

Year-over-year (March 2026 vs March 2025)

Halifax resale home prices were down 4.7% year-over-year. Prices for the 11-city composite index were down 5.0% with declines in six of 11 urban centers. Québec City reported the fastest pace of growth over March 2025 while the fastest decline was in Toronto.

Year-to-date (January-March 2026 vs January-March 2025)

In the first three months of 2026, Halifax resale home prices were down 1.8%. Composite 11-city index dropped 4.4% with declines in six urban centers. Toronto reported the fastest decline white Québec City reported the fastest gain. 

Trends

Halifax resale home prices have reported positive year-over-year growth throughout 2024 and 2025. In March 2026, the national index saw its eleventh consecutive year-over-year decline. Since January 2019, year-over-year Halifax resale home price growth has outpaced the national composite in all but four months.

Winnipeg, Montréal and Québec City set new highs for resale house prices in March.
