February 19, 2025EU AND EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, DECEMBER AND ANNUAL 2024 Month-over-month December 2024 vs November 2024, seasonally adjusted)
In the 27 countries of the European Union, the balance of trade in goods surplus widened by €2.81 billion to €12.9 billion. Exports from the European Union were up 0.1% to €217.8 billion while imports decreased by 1.2% to €204.9 billion.
In the 20 countries of the Euro Area, the balance of trade in goods surplus widened by €1.3 billion to €14.6 billion. Exports from the Euro Area decreased by 0.2% to €240.8 billion while imports decreased by 0.8% to €226.2 billion.


The European Union surplus in goods trade with the UK narrowed by €1.2 billion to €13.9 billion, the export surplus in goods trade with the UK narrowed by €1.3 billion to €27.3 billion, and the import surplus in goods trade with the UK narrowed by €44.5 million to €13.4 billion.

The European Union surplus in goods trade with Canada widened by €981.9 million to €2.2 billion, the export in goods trade with Canada increased by €546.6 million to €4.3 billion, and the import in goods trade with Canada narrowed by €435.3 mllion to €2.1 billion.

The European Union surplus in goods trade with the US narrowed by €53.4 million to €17.9 billion, the export trade narrowed by €572.6 million, and the import trade with the US narrowed by €519.1 million to €27.5 billion.

Likewise, for the subset of European Union countries that use the Euro, there was a goods trade surplus with the UK (narrowed to €11.2 billion), and with Canada (widened to €2.0 billion) and with the US (narrowed to €16.3 billion).



ANNUAL (2024 vs 2023)
The European Union's goods trade with the rest of the word recorded a surplus of €145.4 billion. European Union exports rose 0.8 % to €2,576.5 billion and imports declined 3.8% to €2,431.1 billion.
The Euro Area's goods trade with the rest of the word recorded a surplus of €172.7 billion. Euro Area exports increased 0.3% to €2,856.4 billion and imports decreased 4.0% to €2,683.7 billion.
