EU AND EURO AREA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, JANUARY 2025

Year-over-year (January 2025 vs January 2024)

The inflation rate rose to 2.8% in the European Union and to 2.5% in the Euro Area in January 2025.

The fastest inflation was reported in Hungary while the slowest inflation rate was in Denmark.                                                                      

Energy prices grew 2.3% in the European Union and 1.9% in the Euro Area in January 2025.

Food price inflation decelerated to 2.0% for the European Union and to 1.3% in the Euro Area in January 2025.

Excluding the impacts of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices year-over-year inflation remained at 2.9% in the European Union and at 2.7% in the Euro Area for the fith consecutive month in January 2025.
