US construction spending decreased 0.2% to $2,192.5 billion.
- Total residential construction decreased 0.5% to $944.5 billion.
- Total non-residential construction spending increased 0.1% to $1,248.1 billion.
- Private sector construction decreased 0.2% to $1,686.0 billion.
- Public sector construction increased 0.1% to $506.6 billion.


Private residential construction decreased 0.4% to $932.7 billion, while private non-residential construction spending was up 0.01% to $753.3 billion.
Public residential construction decreased 1.1% to $11.8 billion, while public non-residential construction spending increased 0.2% to $494.8 billion.
Year-over-year (January 2025 vs January 2024)
US construction spending increased 3.3%.
- Total residential construction increased 3.2%.
- Total non-residential construction spending increased 3.4%.
- Private sector construction increased 2.6%.
- Public sector construction increased 5.9%.
