March 04, 2025EU AND EURO AREA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, JANUARY 2025 
Eurostat has reported that the unemployment rate in the Euro Area was unchanged at 6.2% in January 2025. For the broader 27 countries of the entire European Union, the unemployment rate was also unchanged at 5.8% in January 2025.
In January, youth unemployment rates were stable at 14.6% in the European Union. The Euro Area youth unemployment rates were down to 14.1% in January from the previous month's rate of 14.2%.
The unemployment rate for females in the Euro Area was stable compared to the previous month at 6.4% in January. The male unemployment rate was also unchanged at 6.0%. The European Union unemployment rate for females was stable at 6.0% in January 2025. The unemployment rate for males was stable at 5.6% in the European Union compared to the previous month.
Among EU member state economies, the January unemployment rates were highest in Spain and Sweden. The unemployment rate was lowest in Czechia and Poland.
