March 18, 2025EU AND EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, JANUARY 2025 Month-over-month (January 2025 vs December 2024, seasonally adjusted)
In the 27 countries of the European Union, the trade surplus in goods narrowed by €2.21 billion to €10.1 billion. Exports from the European Union were up 2.0% to €222.5 billion while imports increased by 3.2% to €212.4 billion.
In the 20 countries of the Euro Area, the surplus in goods trade narrowed by €0.2billion to €14.0 billion. Exports from the Euro Area increased by 2.1% to €245.6 billion while imports increased by 2.3% to €231.6 billion.
The European Union surplus in goods trade with the UK narrowed by €660.1 billion to €15.0 billion. The European Union's surplus in goods trade with Canada narrowed by €849.6 million to €1.7 billion while the surplus in goods trade with the US narrowed by €220.7 million to €17.8 billion.
Likewise, for the subset of European Union countries that use the Euro, there was a goods trade surplus with the UK (widened by €467.3 million to €11.8 billion), as well as with Canada (narrowed by €859.2 million to €1.1 billion) and with the US (widened by €129.3 million to €16.5 billion).
