March 26, 2025UK CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, FEBRUARY 2025
UK Consumer Price Index including owner-occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) increased 3.7% year-over-year in February 2025, this was down from 3.9% year-over-year in January 2025. The UK CPI index was up 2.8% year-over-year in February, decelerating from 3.0% in January. The owner occupiers' housing costs component accounts for 17% of the CPIH. It is the main driver for differences between the CPIH and CPI inflation rates. The largest upward contributions came from five divisions, primarily from alcohol/tobacco, miscellaneous goods/services, and communication. Upward contributions were offset by declines in prices, with housing/household services and clothing/footwear seeing the largest price movement.
