US nonfarm business sector labour productivity was revised to a seasonally adjusted annualized growth rate of 3.3% in Q2 2025. Rebounding labour productivity combined with a 1.1% rise in hours worked to lift US business sector real output by 4.4%. US manufacturing labour productivity increased 2.5% with hours worked down 0.1%, combining for a 2.4% rise in US manufacturing output.
US unit labour costs were up 1.0%, as the labour productivity improvement of 3.3% offset some of the 4.3% rise in hourly compensation.
US manufacturing hourly compensation increased 4.5%, which was partially offset by the 2.5% rise in manufacturing labour productivity, leading to unit labour cost growth of 2.0% for US manufacturers.
