September 16, 2025UK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, MAY-JULY 2025 
The UK unemployment rate for the three-month period May to July 2025 was 4.7%, 0.1 percentage points higher than the preceding 3 month period (February-April 2025). From May to July 2024, the UK unemployment rate averaged 4.2%.
There were 1.674 million unemployed people in the UK, 34,000 (+2.1%) more than the preceding 3 month period and 194,000 (+13.1%) more than at the same time a year ago. Employment in the UK was at 34.243 million, 232,000 (+0.7%) more than the preceding 3 month period and 654,000 (+1.9%) more compared to a year earlier. UK labour force increased by 266,000 (+0.7%) from the preceding 3 month period and by 848,000 (+2.4%) over the past year, rising to 35.917 million.
