October 02, 2025EU AND EURO AREA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, AUGUST 2025 
Eurostat has reported that the unemployment rate in the Euro Area was 6.3% in August 2025, up from the revised July unemployment rate of 6.2%. For the broader 27 countries of the entire European Union, the unemployment rate was unchanged at 5.9% in August 2025.
The Euro Area youth unemployment rate was unchanged at 14.0% in August 2025. In the European Union, the youth unemployment rate was 14.6% in August, up from 14.4% in July 2025.
The unemployment rate for females in the Euro Area was 6.4% and the male unemployment rate was 6.1% in August, both unchanged from the previous month. The European Union unemployment rate for females was 6.0% and the unemployment rate for males was 5.8% in August 2025, both unchanged from the previous month.
Among EU member state economies, the August unemployment rates were highest in Spain, Finland and Sweden. The unemployment rate was lowest in Malta and Slovenia.
