JAPAN CURRENT ACCOUNT AND TRADE BALANCE, AUGUST 2025

Month-over-month (August 2025 vs July 2025)

The current account  surplus widened by ¥580.7 billion to ¥2,463.5 billion.                                                          

  • the goods trade deficit changed to a surplus of ¥91.2 billion.
  • the services trade deficit narrowed by ¥217.6 billion to ¥233.1 billion
  • the primary income surplus narrowed by ¥130.7 to ¥3,042.9 billion
  • the secondary income deficit narrowed by ¥124.3 billion to ¥437.5 billion

The goods trade deficit changed to a surplus of ¥91.2 billion.

  • goods exports increased ¥310.8 billion to ¥8,874.6 billion.
  • goods imports decreased ¥58.7 billion to ¥8,783.4 billion.
