UK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, JUNE-AUGUST 2025

The UK unemployment rate for the three-month period June to August 2025 was 4.8%, 0.1 percentage point higher than the preceding 3 month period (March-May 2025). From June to August 2024, the UK unemployment rate averaged 4.1%.  

There were 1.737 million unemployed people in the UK, 64,000 (+3.8%) more than the preceding 3 month period and 297,000 (+20.6%) more than at the same time a year ago. Employment in the UK was at 34.221 million, 91,000 (+0.3%) more than the preceding 3 month period and 473,000 (+1.4%) more compared to a year earlier. UK labour force increased by 155,000 (+0.4%) from the preceding 3 month period and by 770,000 (+2.2%) over the past year, rising to 35.958 million.
