UK TRADE BALANCE, AUGUST 2025

Month-over-month (August 2025 vs July 2025, seasonally adjusted)

The United Kingdom goods and services trade deficit grew by £0.4 billion to £3.4 billion. Exports of goods and services decreased 1.2% (£1.0 billion) to £77.4 billion and imports of goods and services decreased 0.7% (£0.6 billion) to £80.8 billion.

The United Kingdom goods trade deficit widened by £0.5 billion to £21.2 billion. Exports of goods decreased 3.6% (£1.2 billion) to £31.2 billion. Imports of goods decreased 1.2% (£0.6 billion) to £52.4 billion. 

The United Kingdom services trade surplus widened by £0.2 billion to £17.8 billion. Exports of services increased 0.5% (£0.2 billion) to £46.2 billion and imports of services increased 0.2% (£0.05 billion) to £28.4 billion.

The United Kingdom goods and services trade surplus of £0.5 billion in August 2024 changed to a deficit of £3.4 billion. The goods trade deficit widened by £5.9 billion to £21.2 billion and the services trade surplus widened by £2.1 billion to £17.8 billion.

Month-over-month (August 2025 vs July 2025, seasonally adjusted)

The United Kingdom EU goods trade deficit widened by £1.0 billion to £12.9 billion. Exports of goods decreased by 5.3% (£0.8 billion) to £14.7 billion and imports of goods increased by 0.8% (£0.2 billion) to £27.6 billion. 

The United Kingdom non-EU goods trade deficit narrowed by £0.5 billion to £8.3 billion. Exports of goods decreased 2.1% (£0.4 billion) to £16.5 billion and imports of goods decreased by 3.3% (£0.9 billion) to £24.8 billion.

The United Kingdom-EU goods trade deficit widened by £2.9 billion and non-EU goods trade deficit widened by £3.0 billion.
