EU AND EURO AREA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, SEPTEMBER 2025

Eurostat has reported that the unemployment rate in the Euro Area was 6.3% in September 2025, unchanged from August. For the broader 27 countries of the entire European Union, the unemployment rate was 6.0% in September 2025, unchanged from the revised August result.

The Euro Area youth unemployment rate was unchanged at 14.4% in September 2025, up from 14.3% in the previous month.  In the European Union, the youth unemployment rate was unchanged at 14.8% in September. 

The unemployment rate for females in the Euro Area was 6.5% (unchanged) and the male unemployment rate was 6.2% in September (up from 6.1% in August). The European Union unemployment rate for females was 6.1% and the unemployment rate for males was 5.8% in September 2025, both unchanged from the previous month.

Among EU member state economies, the September unemployment rates were highest in Spain, Finland and Sweden. The unemployment rate was lowest in Czechia, Malta and Slovenia.
