November 12, 2025UK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, JULY-SEPTEMBER 2025 
The UK unemployment rate for the three-month period July to September 2025 was 5.0%, 0.3 percentage point higher than the preceding 3 month period (April-June 2025). From July to September 2024, the UK unemployment rate averaged 4.3%.
There were 1.789 million unemployed people in the UK, 117,000 (+7.0%) more than the preceding 3 month period and 282,000 (+18.7%) more than at the same time a year ago. Employment in the UK was at 34.192 million, 22,000 (-0.1%) less than the preceding 3 month period and 417,000 (+1.2%) more compared to a year earlier. UK labour force increased by 95,000 (+0.3%) from the preceding 3 month period and by 699,000 (+2.0%) over the past year, rising to 35.981 million.
