Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments increased 3.3% to $1.049 billion. National shipments increased 3.3% to $72.1 billion.
Manufacturing shipments were up in nine provinces. Newfoundland and Labrador reported the largest monthly increase in manufacturing shipments while British Columbia reported the only decrease.

Year-over-year (September 2025 vs September 2024)
Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments decreased by 2.1% year-over-year. National shipments increased 2.7%. Seven provinces reported increases, led by Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador reported the largest declines.

Year-to-date (January-September 2025 vs January-September 2024)
Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments increased by 3.6% compared to the same period in 2024. National shipments decreased 0.4%. Four provinces reported increases, led by Prince Edward Island. Six provinces led by Newfoundland and Labrador reported declines.

Nova Scotia year-to-date shipments were up for both durables and non-durables. Durable goods shipments from areas inside Halifax account for the larger portion of the province's durables output. The majority of Nova Scotia's non-durable manufacturing shipments comes from outside the city.

Nova Scotia's year-to-date durable goods shipments increased 7.2%, while non-durable goods shipments increased 1.2% in the same period. In Halifax, durable goods shipments increased 3.6% and non-durables declined 0.5%, year-to-date. Outside Halifax, durables rose 11.6% while non-durables increased 1.5%.

Trends
Periodic spikes in Nova Scotia's shipments values are not uncommon. Throughout 2024, manufacturing shipments were stable, with volatility at both the national and provincial levels. In 2025, Nova Scotia's shipments have reversed course and have sharply declined in August while national shipments continued to trend down.
