Month-over-month (October 2025 vs September 2025, seasonally adjusted turnover value)
In the European Union, retail sales values were down 0.1%. Euro Area retail sales values were down 0.2% from the previous month.
Year-over-year (October 2025 vs October 2024, seasonally adjusted turnover value)
European Union retail sales were up 2.7% year-over-year. In the Euro Area, retail sales were up 2.5%.
Year-to-date (January-October 2025 vs January-October 2024, seasonally adjusted turnover value)
European Union retail sales were up 3.3% year-to-date while Euro Area, retail sales rose 3.1%.
By member state (where data is available) the strongest growth in year-to-date retail sales occurred in Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Lithuania, and Cyprus. The slowest gains were reported in Finland, Belgium and France.

Note: Countries in the Euro Area are a subset of the countries in the European Union and contribute to the EU average. Individual countries reported with green bars are in the European Union but not in the Euro Area. With the addition of Croatia as of January 1, 2023, the Euro Area increased to 20 countries.
