Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments decreased 0.8% to $1.028 billion. National shipments decreased 1.0% to $71.5 billion.
Manufacturing shipments were up in four provinces. Newfoundland and Labrador reported the largest monthly increase in manufacturing shipments while Quebec led with six provinces in decline.

Year-over-year (October 2025 vs October 2024)
Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments increased by 0.1% year-over-year. National shipments increased 0.7%. Seven provinces reported increases, led by Newfoundland and Labrador while New Brunswick reported the largest decline.

Year-to-date (January-October 2025 vs January-October 2024)
Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments increased by 2.8% compared to the same period in 2024. National shipments decreased 0.3%. Five provinces reported increases, led by Prince Edward Island. Five provinces led by Newfoundland and Labrador reported declines.

Nova Scotia year-to-date shipments were up for both durables and non-durables, overall. Durable goods shipments from areas inside Halifax account for the larger portion of the province's durables output. The majority of Nova Scotia's non-durable manufacturing shipments comes from outside the city.

Nova Scotia's year-to-date durable goods shipments increased 5.3%, while non-durable goods shipments increased 1.1% in the same period. In Halifax, durable goods shipments increased 4.2% and non-durables declined 0.8%, year-to-date. Outside Halifax, durables rose 6.7% while non-durables increased 1.5%.

Trends
Periodic spikes in Nova Scotia's shipments values are not uncommon. Throughout 2024, manufacturing shipments were stable, with volatility at both the national and provincial levels. In 2025, Nova Scotia's shipments have reversed course and have sharply declined in August while national shipments trended down in the first part of the year. Since June, national has trended up.
