December 16, 2025UK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, AUGUST-OCTOBER 2025 
The UK unemployment rate for the three-month period August to October 2025 was 5.1%, 0.4 percentage point higher than the preceding 3 month period (May-July 2025). From August to October 2024, the UK unemployment rate averaged 4.3%.
There were 1.832 million unemployed people in the UK, 158,000 (+9.4%) more than the preceding 3 month period and 327,000 (+21.7%) more than at the same time a year ago. Employment in the UK was at 34.226 million, 17,000 (-0.05%) less than the preceding 3 month period and 448,000 (+1.3%) more compared to a year earlier. UK labour force increased by 141,000 (+0.4%) from the preceding 3 month period and by 775,000 (+2.2%) over the past year, rising to 36.058 million.
